Adobe After Effects

Motion graphics is a powerful method for demonstrating any given message, or putting a new lease of life into footage that would
ordinarily be less than eye catching.

All of the skills I possess are self taught, and my demos here are my way of experimenting to get new ideas.
I am constantly looking for inspiration where ever I may find it.

Current works in progress include:

Growing grass (An adaptation of the "beware" short in my demo reel)

Back to the Future time travel effects. This is currently on hold, as I need to re-record the footage of my car and the weather has been less than pleasant (Resulting in a rather large dent in the front of my car.)

3d Mesh landscape with roads and race tracks.

Please take the time to look at my demo reel and other examples.

Demo Reel

My Current Demo Reel can be downloaded here and contains clips from some of my recent work.

The file is 23 MB in size.

Music Technology Demo

This is a promotional video for the music technology course for Ryedale School.
It makes extensive use of camera angles, depth of field, motion blur, and particle systems.

Currently this piece is incomplete, as the spectrum analyzer is reacting to music not intended for the end result,
the actual music is still unfinished in the recording studio and will be finished shortly.

Deep Sea

This is a test to try and simulate water using in built effects in After Effects,
I was rather pleased with the results.

Planet Explosion

Quite a complex animation of a comet hitting a planet and it exploding,
This example makes use of a particle system and is an adaptation of a tutorial found on Video co-pilot, hence it does not
appear in my Demo reel.

The End of an Era.

This was created for the ending of a DVD created for the leaving members of staff at my current workplace.

The Staff members had been there for many years and Mac was the last teacher in the school that refused to get rid of his blackboard

The chalk effect was in reference to him.

Heat and Sparks,

This effect was created using an effect called super hot colours, and can only be archived in 24 bit colour-depth.

The colour values are set so high that on the screen the colour appears white,
however when a blurring effect is applied the "heat" colour is allowd to show through.

Unfortunately the effect is only available in certain rendering modes and the actual video is over 300MB is size,

The compressed version does not show in the correct aspect ratio but is available HERE

Performing Arts Animated Logo

This is the animated logo created for my current employers, designed to loop continuously.

Quite a simple design idea, but it certainly impressed.

Usually I avoid WMV as a format as it is not compatible with all systems but as the school does not have quicktime pro achieving
full screen was not possible

The File is available HERE
